      Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in the year 2000 with an intake of 60 students. It is one of the oldest department in the institution. The department presently offers one regular B.Tech programme and one M.Tech programme. The faculty strength of the department is 15, comprising of one Professor and twelve Assistant Professors.This department is all set to keep pace with the latest developments in the field of computer science and engineering. It emphasizes on nurturing the potential of students and above all plays a vital role in carving out software and hardware intellectuals excelling in innova-tion, creativity, and quality.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)


  1. 1. Graduates shall have strong foundation in fundamental principles of Computer Science that will prepare them to pursue higher education and a successful career.

  2. 2. Graduates shall be able to manage and design projects in multidisciplinary environment by effective team work and leadership skills.

  3. 3. Graduates shall promote lifelong learning and ethical responsibilities in profession for the betterment of the society.


PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Engineering Graduates in B.Tech CSE will be able to:

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

  8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

  9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

  10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

  11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one's own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

  12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.


PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

Engineering Graduates in B. Tech. CSE Program will be able to:

  • PSO 1: Ability to apply theoretical foundations and fundamentals of computer science in modelling and developing software and hardware solutions to real-world problems.

  • PSO 2: Ability to use computational, algorithmic and programming skills along with modern software engineering tools for the design, development and management of software systems.

  • PSO 3: Ability to apply expertise in areas like machine intelligence, cloud computing, image and data processing, cyber security and advances in computer networks to develop secure and intelligent software systems.

3 S. Pranav of First year Computer Science and Engineering secured Bronze Medal in 11 th  South Zone Shooting championship.
4 S. Pranav of 1 st year CSE secured Bronze Medal in 52 nd  Kerala shooting Championship conducted during 08/08/2019 – 18/08/2019.
5 Twelve students passed the NPTEL exam on DBMS in October 2019 scoring above 60%. Vishnunarayanan S R of V semester CSE was the topper with a score of 89%.
6 Faizal Sulthan secured First Prize in International Press Photographer contest as part of CUSAT MUN 2019 held at CUSAT from Feb 8 - 10, 2019

10 Bejoy Abraham, Associate Professor in CSE won first place in the PROSTATEx-2 grand challenge 2017 conducted by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), along with the SPIE (the International Society for Optics and Photonics) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), on the development of quantitative multi-parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) biomarkers for the determination of Gleason Grade Group in prostate cancer.

ASCI

      The Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (ASCI), the technical association of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 2006. The association provides opportunities to students to conduct various technical and social events which enable them to achieve laurels in the competitive society.

  • The ASCI’s newsletter-2017 was released during the inaugural function of National Conference, ”Advances in Informatics and Computing Technologies (AICT’18)” – held on 20th March 2018 .
  • Technical event “FINESTRA 14” was organized on 12th November 2014 as part of CS/IT association programs. The event was inaugurated by Dr.Z A Zoya Principal CE Perumon and it was remarkable by the release of news letter-14 and website hosting. The official URL of the website was www.ascicep.com. Inaugural session was preceeded by debugging and quiz competition.
